The experts are coming! The experts are coming!

The Port Chester Historical Society is delighted to announce that we have won a site visit from Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York to help us assess and manage our collections!

The Port Chester Historical Society has been revitalized and is now moving forward with renewed purpose—collecting, archiving, and preserving the village’s rich history. Housed in the historic Bush Lyon Homestead (c. 1760), the Society has rebounded from decades of decline thanks to local community efforts, including projects by local Girl and Boy Scouts in 2018 that reignited interest and activity. Despite setbacks during the pandemic, the Society continues to thrive, committed to uncovering, sharing, and celebrating Port Chester’s diverse heritage. With an emphasis on inclusion and education, the Society seeks to engage all members of the community in exploring and preserving the stories that shape their shared past.
